Side Effects Software, developer of the award-winning Houdini family of 3D software, announced that its Annual Houdini Meeting will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2004 during SIGGRAPH in Los Angeles. This event will bring together Houdini users from around the world to network with their peers, witness the official unveiling of Houdini 7, and enjoy an exclusive sneak-peak into Houdini's future.
The meeting also showcases cutting-edge animation and visual effects created by leading studios such as Digital Domain, Framestore CFC, Rhythm & Hues Studios and Sony Pictures Imageworks. These top studios will speak about how Houdini was used in blockbuster films such as Spider-Man 2, The Day After Tomorrow, Around the World in 80 Days, and Thunderbirds.
After the meeting, Side Effects Software and sponsors, 3Dlabs and ATI, will host a reception along with The Houdini Job Fair where participating companies such as Disney Feature Animation, Digital Domain, DNA Productions and Rhythm & Hues Studios will be recruiting new talent. The demand for Houdini artists is growing and the Houdini meeting provides a great venue for digital artists to speak with leading animation and visual effects studios about employment opportunities. The job fair is a great opportunity for everyone including Houdini veterans, established artists learning Houdini through the Apprentice Program, and artists who have an interest in working with Houdini in production.
The Houdini Annual Meeting and Job Fair is open to everyone, including existing Houdini users, 3D artists of all levels and the media. It will run from 2:00 - 7:30pm at The Highlands at 6801 Hollywood Blvd, 4th floor, located inside the Hollywood & Highland complex. Complimentary shuttle buses will be available from the Los Angeles Convention Center (Hall K) and will transport attendees throughout the afternoon.
